About

The Kennedy Arts Foundation presents the Kennedy Prize, an annual Australian arts award of $25,000. The prize is based and exhibited in Adelaide but open to Australian artists nationwide, and is awarded to works that embody, comment on or celebrate the theme of beauty.

The prize is open to Australian artists, with the sole category of painting for 2023.
Emerging artists are especially encouraged to apply.
The prize is designed to showcase emerging and previously un-exhibited artists alongside established Australian luminaries.
The winning artist will receive $25,000, and their artwork will be acquired by the Kennedy Arts Foundation, and at its absolute discretion, auctioned at the next year’s Kennedy Prize exhibition.
The Foundation’s Choice, showcases work chosen by the foundation members.

$2,000 NAB People’s Choice Award for Painting
$500 NAB People’s Choice Award for Photography
These will be awarded to the audience’s preferred entrant.
 
Voting is conducted at the exhibition and only the finalists are eligble for the People’s Choice Award.

Foundation's Choice

The Foundation’s Choice Exhibition, showcases work chosen by the foundation members from non-finalists. The works are exhibited along side the finalists in the main exhibition and are not eligble for any prize money.

Accepting Entries Until Midnight!

 
Note: The 30 Finalists will have their, digitally sumbitted work, printed at Atkins Photo Lab at A3 size.
These will then be displayed in the institute room in the institute building cnr of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue Adelaide.
  • Works must engage with the theme of ‘Beauty’
  • At least 80% of the image must use traditional photography techniques.
    20% of the image can be digitally manipulated, including artificial intelligence.
  • Recommended Resolution 3600px on the longest edge and 300ppi.
  • High resolution mobile phone images will be accepted.
  • Finalists will be required to provide before and after images to make sure they meet guidelines.
  • All Australian Citizens, living in Australia are eligible to enter. See the terms and conditions for full details.
  • No limit to entries, entry fee is required for each entry.
  • Entrants must be over the age of 18 by the Entry Closing Date.
  • Entry fee is $20 – Non Refundable
  • All submissions are digital and online.
  • Up to 30 works will be selected to exhibit as finalists

Works must engage with the theme of ‘Beauty’
All Australian Citizens, living in Australia are eligible to enter. See the terms and conditions for full details.
All entrants can enter up to three artworks, submitting the entry fee each time.
South Australian artists can enter up to four works, submitting the entry fee each time.
Entrants must be over the age of 18 by the Entry Closing Date.
Please upload three digital images of the Art Work, including one complete view of the work and at least one detail view of the work to show materials used.
Entered works must not exceed size limit of 1.8m x 1.8m in any direction.
Entry fee is $50 – Non Refundable
Up to 50 works will be selected to exhibit as finalists
Selected works will be exhibited at Royal South Australian Society of Arts, Level One, corner North Terrace & Kintore Avenue, Adelaide SA.
Only works selected for the exhibition will need to be sent to our receiving space at the Royal South Australian Society of Arts, Level One, corner North Terrace & Kintore Avenue, Adelaide SA.
