The Satsop Nuclear Power Plant, were two of five planned nuclear power plants by the Washington Public Power Supply System to meet projected electricity demand in the Pacific Northwest. When constructed costs skyrocketed, the project was mothballed. The plant’s abandoned cooling towers still stand, providing a safe nesting site for birds.
